Delhi Air Pollution: Pollution reached dangerous levels in Delhi, AQI 1282 in Swiss app; GRAP also had no effect
Delhi Air Pollution Despite the implementation of GRAP restrictions in the capital Delhi, air pollution is not being controlled. Pollution level increased in NCR and Bahadurgarh, adjacent to Delhi, remained the most polluted in the country on Sunday. After this, Delhi remained in second place. On Sunday, suddenly the Air Quality Index of the national capital was recorded at 1282.
The capital Delhi has become a gas chamber. On Sunday night at 8 o'clock, when the Central Pollution Control Board was showing Delhi's AQI as 441, at the same time, in the app of Swiss company IQAir, this figure was touching such a dangerous level that we cannot even imagine. It was touching the level of 1,121 which reached 1,282 at 9:30 pm.
Talking about other cities of NCR, at the same time, the app recorded AQI 707 in Bahadurgarh, Haryana, 829 in Gurugram, 651 in Ghaziabad and 418 in Noida. While the figures of air quality shown by the Pollution Control Board in these cities were not matching with this at all. At the same time, the average AQI of Delhi has been recorded at 481 this morning. Apart from this, AQI 624 was recorded in Anand Vihar, Delhi.
Snowfall in the mountains due to the effect of western disturbance
These different scales of AQI level also raise questions on the instruments for measuring air quality in the country. Talking about Delhi, the AQI in IQAir was 500 at 5 pm which reached 1,121 at 8 pm. A major reason for this is believed to be the sudden calmness of the wind. According to IMD meteorologist RK Jenamani, snowfall and rain have occurred in the mountains due to the effect of western disturbance.
Due to this, humidity and cold are also coming with the northwest wind. In such a situation, the level of fog is increasing. Moderate to dense fog can be seen at night as well. Dense fog can also occur in the morning. The level of pollution also increases when fog increases and the wind slows down.
Although IQAir shows dangerous AQI in NCR, it does not show such a situation in other cities. This is the reason why there is no reason to doubt it. At 9:30 pm, the AQI recorded on this app was 156 in Kanpur and 153 in Haridwar. Not only this, the AQI was 263 in Faridabad and 211 in Sonipat.
