The troubles of former Nepal cricket team captain Sandeep Lamichhane trapped in the rape case of a minor girl are not decreasing. The police custody of Sandeep Lamichhane has been extended. Lamichhane's lawyer told that his custody has been extended for five more days. 

Arrested on 6 October

Significantly, Sandeep Lamichhane was arrested from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on 6 October in connection with the rape of a minor. After his arrest, the police produced him in the court on Monday. The district court of Kathmandu then sent Sandeep on seven-day police remand. Now his remand has been extended for five more days. 

What's the matter?

Sandeep Lamichhane has been accused of rape by a 17-year-old minor. The police had registered a case after medical examination of the victim. This matter came to light when Sandeep was participating in a cricket tournament in Kenya. The incident reportedly happened a day before his visit to Kenya. The victim alleges that Sandeep had raped her in a hotel on August 21.

Tendulkar and Warne are idols

Former captain of Nepal cricket team Sandeep Lamichhane is a leg spin bowler. He considers Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne as his idols. He is the only Nepalese cricketer to play IPL. He made his ODI debut against the Netherlands in the year 2018. He played his last ODI match against Scotland in July 2022.
