Dr. Vivek Murthy The Indian-origin Surgeon General of America, Dr. Vivek Murthy, has been given another big responsibility. Dr. Murthy will represent the US on the WHO Executive Board. He has been nominated by US President Joe Biden.
US President Joe Biden has appointed Indian-origin Dr. Vivek Murthy as America's representative on the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Murthy Abi, 45, is serving as the US Surgeon General. Murthy will assume the new charge in his current role. This information has been given by the White House.
The first Indian-origin surgeon general, Dr. Murthy, grew up in Miami and is a graduate of Harvard's Yale School of Medicine, the White House said. He has also studied at Yale School of Management. Renowned Physician, Research Scientist, Entrepreneur and Author Dr. Murthy in Washington DC with wife Dr. Alice lives with Chen and their two children.

The Surgeon General's job in America is to help lay the foundation for a healthy country“Dr Murthy, while serving as the 21st Surgeon General, has been working on a range of important health issues, including the growing prevalence of health misinformation, the mental health crisis of youth, among others,” the White House said. Dr. Murthy also leads more than 6,000 dedicated health officials as Vice Admiral of the US Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. He also commanded the uniformed service of the U.S., serving the most disadvantaged and vulnerable population.
