Iran: Shia commander raped 15-year-old Baloch girl, 36 killed in police firing

A 15-year-old Baloch girl was raped by a Shia commander in Iran's Zahedan city. Hundreds of people took to the streets in protest against the incident. To control the people, the police opened fire in which 36 people are reported to have died. Thousands of people are already protesting against the government in Iran against the hijab. 22-year-old Mehsa Amini had reached her family without wearing a hijab. Then the policemen arrested him. Mahaja had died during police custody. Since then protests have been going on in Iran.

After the rape of a 15-year-old Baloch girl, angry people set fire to government offices and police stations. After the Friday prayers, people of the Baloch community came out on the streets and raised slogans against the administration. Only after this the police fired indiscriminately, in which 36 police opened fire. Last week, a police commander named Colonel Ibrahim Khuchakzai raped the girl. Iran's chief Sunni cleric Maulvi Abdul Hameed has confirmed the rape of this girl. The Sunni Baloch population lives in the south-eastern Sistan and Balochistan provinces of Iran. An armed group attacked a police station here. After this the security forces retaliated.

Demonstrations started after Namaz

Iran's state-run news agency Irna said on Saturday that the attack happened on Friday. It said the attackers hid among worshipers near a mosque in the city of Zahedan and attacked a nearby police station. Irna quoted provincial governor Hussein Modresi as saying that 19 people were killed in the attack. It said that 32 guard members, including volunteer Basji force personnel, were injured during this period.

Syed Ali Mousavi died during the attack

Iran's Sistan and Balochistan provinces border Afghanistan and Pakistan, where ethnic Baloch separatists have been attacking security forces. However, the Tasnim news establishment's report on Saturday did not say anything about the identity of the group involved in the attack. Tasnim and other state news establishments said Syed Ali Mousavi, the head of the Revolutionary Guard's intelligence department, was shot during the attack, who later succumbed to his injuries. It is not unusual for members of the Iran Revolutionary Guard to be present in police stations across the country.
