The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than a year. On 24 February 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced military action against Ukraine. Till now no decision of this war has been reached. At the same time, Ukraine is also not backing down from fighting the war against Russia.
In this series, now Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed on June 6 that a 'serious and powerful' proposal has been received from the leaders of several countries to provide F-16 fighter jets to Kiev and will soon be finalized with key allies. Awaiting agreement.
Kiev awaits final agreement
Zelensky said in a statement on his website that our partners know how many planes we need. I have already received the number of aircraft from some of our European partners. This is a serious and powerful proposition.
Zelensky said Kiev now awaits a final agreement with its allies, including a joint agreement with the United States. However, it is still unclear which of Kiev's allies is ready to send the jets to Ukraine.
Will America send the plane?
US President Joe Biden told G7 leaders last month that Washington supports joint allied training programs for Ukrainian pilots on the F-16. But US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has said that no final decision has been made by Washington on whether to send the planes. Zelensky has long been appealing for the F-16 jets. They believe that their presence with the Ukrainian pilots will be a sure signal to the world that the Russian invasion will end in defeat.
Russia's warning
Russia has warned the US against providing F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Russia believes US-made F-16 fighter jets can 'accommodate' nuclear weapons. Also, supplying them to Kiev would escalate the conflict.
