Russia on Tuesday reacted strongly to the setting of oil price limits by Western countries. President Vladimir Putin has signed an order under which Russia will stop supplying oil from February to countries that comply with the price cap.

The Cold War continues between the West and Moscow over the Russian invasion of Ukraine. In this sequence, Western countries have placed a condition that if a country wants to have access to Western financial services, it will not have to pay more than $60 per barrel to Russia in exchange for marine oil.

This condition will be applicable from February 1 and will continue till July 1, 2023. Russia is the world's second largest oil exporter after Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, insurers have announced cancellation of war risk cover for ships in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. They have done this because of the heavy losses caused by the war. 

Russia intensifies bombardment in Kherson, eastern Ukraine

The General Staff of the Ukrainian army said on Wednesday morning that during the past 24 hours, Russia has fired 33 missiles from various rocket launchers at civilian targets in the Kherson region. However, Russia has denied the allegations. Fierce fighting continues in the Ukrainian-held town of Bakhmut, where most buildings have been reduced to rubble. Internet media reports claim that a nationwide alert could be declared in Ukraine if Russian warplanes take off from Belarus. 

French Defense Minister arrives in Ukraine to show support

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday to express his support for Ukraine after a trip to Poland, according to the AP. He paid tribute to the Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who lost their lives in the war. Meanwhile, Ukraine plans to deploy air-to-air drones. He has recently bought 1,400 drones.

Russia-US relations in dire straits

Lavrov According to IANS, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the relationship between America and Russia has reached a very bad state. America's mistakes are responsible for this. Its anti-Russian policy is getting deeper and wider. Normal dialogue with US President Joe Biden's administration has become nearly impossible. He blamed America for the Ukraine crisis. 

Russia rejects Zalensky's 10-point peace plan

Russia on Wednesday rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's 10-point peace plan. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, 'The peace plan in Ukraine cannot be implemented without accepting the current map of Russia. It has to accept that Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are part of Russia.

Zelensky's 10-point peace plan included security of Europe's largest nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia food security which would include exports of Ukrainian grain to poor countries, energy security which would include imposition of a price cap on Russian oil, release of all war prisoners, Ukraine Territorial integrity Points such as the ratification of Russia in accordance with the United Nations Charter, the withdrawal of Russian troops and the end of the war, the establishment of a tribunal for war crimes proceedings against Russia, the protection of nature, the prevention of war and the confirmation of the end of the war.
