Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday clarified that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup next year and will demand that the tournament be held at a neutral venue. The 2023 season of the Asia Cup will be played in the 50-over format. The tournament, to be played before the World Cup to be held in India, has been handed over to Pakistan.

Former Pakistan cricketers expressed displeasure

Let us tell you that many former Pakistani cricketers have expressed their displeasure over this decision of India. Legendary Pakistan batsman Saeed Anwar took to Twitter to criticize the BCCI's decision to not allow Indian players to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup. According to Anwar, if the BCCI wants to play at an Asia neutral venue next year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should also approach the ICC to host the 2023 ODI World Cup in India.

He tweeted and wrote, 'When all international teams and international cricketers come to Pakistan for @OfficialPSL, what is the problem of @BCCI. If BCCI is ready to move to a neutral venue, @TheRealPCB should also be ready to move to a neutral venue for WC in India.

Decision taken in Annual General Meeting

After the BCCI's Annual General Meeting (AGM), Shah said, "We have decided that we will not go to Pakistan. We will play at a neutral venue. Shah is also the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Even before this, the Asia Cup has been organized at a neutral venue. Host Sri Lanka expressed its inability to host the Asia Cup 2022 amid the economic crisis, after which it was organized in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

India and Pakistan teams play each other only in Asia Cup and global events due to political tension between the two countries. Both the teams had faced each other twice in the Asia Cup last month. Now both the teams will meet in Melbourne on 23 October in the T20 World Cup.
