Japanese car company Toyota is preparing to introduce India's first CNG premium hatchback. According to reports, the company may soon launch the CNG variant of Toyota Glanza for sale in the Indian market. If this happens, the upcoming car will be the first premium hatchback segment in the country to get a factory-fitted CNG kit. Toyota Glanza competes with cars like Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz in the country. The Toyota Glanza CNG will be the CNG version of the company's entry-level car.

Mileage will be 25 kmpl

The Toyota Glanza CNG car could also be launched with a 1.2-litre engine like the current model. However, in the CNG variant, there may be a decrease in the output power of the engine. At the same time, Toyota claims that the upcoming CNG model of Glanza will give a mileage of 25 kmpl. As seen in most CNG cars, the Glanza CNG will only get a manual transmission option.

Toyota Glanza CNG: Features

There are four trim options of the Toyota Glanza - G, S, V and E - available in India. But Toyota will offer only CNG variants of G, S and V trim options of the Glanza. The CNG variant of the E trim option of the car will not come. The top trim of the Glanza is the V, which gets features like heads-up display, 9.0-inch touchscreen, connected car tech and 6 airbags.

Glanza CNG will be expensive

The CNG variant of Toyota's hatchback car Glanza will be costlier than its petrol variant. According to the auto website Autocar, the CNG variant of the Glanza can be costlier by Rs 75,000 compared to the petrol variant. At present, there is no premium hatchback car in the country that offers CNG option. Although the CNG variant of Maruti Suzuki Baleno can also knock in the market.
