Pakistan Earthquake: Earth trembled from Islamabad to Peshawar, intensity measured at 5.6 on Richter scale
Earthquake tremors have been felt in many areas of Pakistan including Islamabad with a magnitude of 5.6. According to the information, the earthquake occurred around one o'clock in the afternoon. Although there is no news of any casualty.
A 5.6-magnitude earthquake jolted parts of the country, including Pakistan's capital Islamabad, on Tuesday. The earthquake was so strong that people were forced to come out of their homes.
Earthquake occurred at one o'clock in the afternoon
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the earthquake was felt at 1:04 pm, with a depth of 10 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was East Kashmir. Tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar, causing people to come out of their offices and homes.
No casualties reported
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property. In Punjab, tremors were felt in Shakar Garh, Chichavatni, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Hafizabad and Zafarwal. Earth shook in Abbottabad, Swabi and Swat areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Meanwhile, in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, tremors were felt in Bagh, Dhirkot and Muzaffarabad areas.
Children pulled out of school
Panic has spread among the people due to the second earthquake in a short span of time. Everyone had come out of their homes and offices. Even the children were sitting in the school when the earthquake struck, panic filled all the children and they were immediately evacuated carefully.
Earthquakes of varying intensities occur frequently in Pakistan. The deadliest earthquake to hit Pakistan in 2005 killed over 74,000 people.
