Will imran khan go to jail? 'I'm jailed or killed.... Imran khan's message to supporters
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan can be arrested today. A police team has reached his residence in Lahore.
A police team has arrived at the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Imran Khan in Lahore to arrest him. PTI workers have also gathered outside the residence. Meanwhile, Imran has released a video, in which he said that arresting me will not solve the matter.
I'm fighting a war for you - Imran khan
Imran Khan said, "I have everything by the grace of God, I am fighting a war for you. I have fought all my life and will keep fighting but if I am put in jail or I am killed, then you have to prove that this community will fight even without Imran Khan."
PTI supporters pelted stones at police
According to Dawn, Islamabad police resorted to water cannon and tear gas against PTI workers who gathered outside Imran Khan's Zaman Park residence in Lahore on Tuesday. The supporters also pelted stones at the policemen. According to Dawn, Islamabad DIG Shahzad Bukhari was injured in clashes between police and PTI supporters.
'People's lives should not be at risk'
According to Dawn, speaking to the media about two hours after the police arrived, PTI's Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the authorities should not put people's lives at risk. He said that the concerned officers should come and talk to him. Mehmood said, "I will talk to him and then discuss it with Imran. If he has the warrant, he should show it to me.
'Imran's life is in danger'
PTI's Farooq Habib shared footage of officers outside Zaman Park. He said that Imran's life is in danger, yet such conditions are being created behind the scenes so that another attempt can be made to kill the former prime minister. He said, 'appearing before the court in F-8 is no less than a death trap.'
Court issued non-bailable warrant
Let me tell you, on Monday, the court had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan for not appearing before the court on charges of threatening the Toshakhana case and a female judge. PTI chief Imran Khan, who is recovering from injuries after being shot in Pakistan's Wazirabad during the agitation last year, has not appeared before the court in both the cases.
The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal, who is hearing the Toshakhana case, and Senior Civil Judge Rana Mujahid Rahim, who is hearing the case of threatening a woman judge during her speech last year, issued the non-bailable arrest warrant. Both the courts have asked the police to produce Imran Khan on March 18 and 21 respectively.
What is Toshakhana case?
PTI chief Imran Khan is accused of buying gifts, including an expensive Graff wristwatch received by the prime minister on his foreign visits, at a discounted price from the government treasury called Toshakhana and selling them for profit.
The Pakistan government has for the first time made public the details of foreign gifts held by former presidents, prime ministers and other officials amid a controversy over Toshakhana gifts sold by them. Accordingly, barring a few officers, most of them kept the gifts free of charge.
Zardari-Sharif kept bulletproof vehicle with him
Former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif received one bulletproof vehicle each during their visits and retained them after paying some money to Toshakhana. Shehbaz Sharif is the only ruler of Pakistan who did not keep any expensive gift from Toshakhana.
